GIFU Industrial Tour (FY2010)
In anticipation of the APEC SME Ministerial Meeting, scheduled in the city of Gifu in October 2010, IIST organized an industrial tour to Gifu Prefecture from May 26 to 28, 2010, for diplomats of APEC member economies stationed in Japan. The tour aimed to deepen the participants’ understanding of the regional economy, industry, and other aspects of Gifu Prefecture.
The industrial tours provide opportunities to invitees from representatives of foreign embassies and consulates in Japan, foreign press, and foreign business people to be introduced the regional economy, visits industrial sites, and attend meetings and social gatherings for opinion exchange.

Discussions with businesspeople and others in Gifu Prefecture.
The participants commented that they had become greatly interested in Gifu Prefecture as a location for companies and investment and as a tourist destination. In particular, they were full of praises for the harmony and coexistence of high-tech industries, the beautiful natural environment, and tradition in the prefecture. The initial objectives of the tour were therefore fulfilled, as the participants were able to deepen their understanding of Gifu Prefecture’s economy and industry and come into contact with the prefecture’s attractions.
In addition, the tour received media coverage by local television and newspapers.
