Netherlands Market Council (FY2010)
Support for Dutch Companies Exhibiting at Living & Design Fair
IIST provided support to Dutch companies exhibiting at the Living & Design 2010 international trade fair held at INTEX Osaka from September 29 to October 2, 2010.
A total of 177 companies, organizations, and others, including overseas exhibitors from five countries in Asia and the West, participated in the fair, the theme of which was "Residential Space Renovation." The fair attracted more than 10,000 visitors over the four days.
The motif of the Dutch pavilion's exterior was an origami (folded-paper) crane made of straw-based plywood. The pavilion featured works by well-known Dutch architects, ceiling lights using recycled paper, and cardboard chairs and tables, producing a space in conformity with the subtheme of "Harmony with the Environment." With its unique exterior, the pavilion attracted the attention of visitors and was a good opportunity to introduce efforts to utilize eco-materials in the Netherlands.
