IIST conducts multifarious activities on the basis of three keywords: (1) response to globalization (international perspective); (2) development of economic leaders (human resource development); and (3) partnership (promotion of exchange).
International Exchange Programs
IIST implements international exchange programs to achieve stable economic growth, and to deepen mutual understanding with people from around the world (Article 4 (3) of the IIST Articles of Incorporation).
Human Resource Development
IIST conducts activities to groom internationally competent management professionals for both public and private sectors (Article 4 (1) of the IIST Articles of Incorporation). It provides support to other institutions through its newly created Case Center Japan.

Research Activities and Information Dissemination
In order to support various IIST programs and provide follow-up information to program participants, IIST conducts surveys and researches, the outputs of which are compiled as information materials that contribute to the promotion of economic exchange between Japan and other countries (Article 4 (2) of the IIST Articles of Incorporation).
